Ascension, Identity, Authority & the Business of Heaven on Earth

This week we celebrated Ascension Day, and I don’t think most people realize how earth‑shaking, identity‑shifting, and purpose‑activating that moment truly was. Ascension is the moment Jesus returned to the Father after His resurrection, but it’s so much more than a historical event. It is the blueprint for your identity, your authority, your purpose, and even the way you build your business. In order to understand ascension, we have to understand where it comes from. All throughout Scripture, the number 40 represents testing, transition, preparation, and transformation. Moses spent 40 days on the mountain. Israel wandered 40 years in the wilderness. Jesus Himself spent 40 days being tested before stepping into His public ministry. And after His resurrection, He spent 40 days teaching His disciples how to live, how to see, how to think, and how to operate from the Kingdom within them. Forty is the number that points to the moment everything shifts.

Ascension Day

During those 40 days, Jesus wasn’t just giving His disciples information. He was awakening them to what was already inside them. He was showing them the light that already lived within. He was revealing that they were not powerless, not waiting on heaven to drop something down, not begging for a higher power to do what He had already placed in them. Jesus said, As I am, so are you in this world.” He said that everything He has is ours. He said that He and the Father are one and if we are as He is, then we are one with the Father too. That means we are not separate, not distant, not waiting for God to move. We are carriers of His Spirit, His nature, His authority, His identity. The moment we understand that, everything changes.

Ascension was not Jesus leaving us. Ascension was Jesus elevating humanity. He elevated in authority, elevated in identity, elevated in perspective and in doing so, He elevated the entire human story. If you’re reading this, you’re probably human, which means this is for you. He did not ascend to go away from you; He ascended to bring you into a new dimension of relationship with Him. Jesus ascended so that you could ascend too, not physically, but spiritually. In identity. In authority. In mindset. In purpose. Ascension breaks the reality addiction that makes us believe our current situation is all we will ever have or that this material world is the whole story. It’s not. It’s so much bigger. Once you realize this, you stop living from the limitations of the natural world and start living from the truth of the spiritual world. You stop being controlled by circumstances and start being led by revelation.

Jesus didn’t say, “Watch Me go.” He said, “Go into all the world.” That means you have a purpose, and the time is now. Ascension is the moment your mission begins. When you understand what’s already within you, you begin to see from above, not below. From spirit, not flesh. From identity, not insecurity. From purpose, not confusion. From authority, not fear. It is time to go do what only you can do, because God created each of us uniquely yet we are all co‑equal, co‑heirs, sons and daughters, carriers of the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. “Son” is not a gender; it is a position. It is identity. It is inheritance. It is oneness. Jesus didn’t come to save the world from God He came to restore us to God. To union. To oneness. To shared life, shared Spirit, shared identity. That’s why He said, “I am in the Father, and you are in Me.” That’s why He said, “The Kingdom is within you.” That’s why He said, “You are the light of the world.” You are made in His image. You share His Spirit. You share His nature. You walk in His authority. You are as He is and it’s time to claim that.

Jesus Ascending

So what does this have to do with business? Everything. Because business is simply the expression of your God‑given identity in the marketplace. Business is ministry. Business is purpose in motion. Business is love at the top caring for one another the way God cares for all of us. Business is using your gifts to serve God’s children. Business is partnering with heaven to bring solutions, creativity, innovation, and transformation into the world. Money is not the mission; money is the reward system God built into the earth for His children who serve His other children. When you understand ascension, you stop building from fear and start building from identity. You stop striving and start flowing. You stop hustling and start partnering. You stop waiting and start walking in what’s already yours.

If you’ve been feeling something stirring… if you’ve known there was more… if you’ve sensed that God has been calling you higher… then this is your confirmation. This is your moment. This is your ascension. Sit with this. Rest in it. Marinate in it. Let it become your new operating system. And then go move mountains.

The 40‑Day Ascension Challenge

The number 40 has always represented transition, testing, and transformation. It’s the number that marks the shift from who you were to who you are becoming. Just like Jesus used those 40 days to elevate His disciples into their calling, you can use the next 40 days to elevate your identity, mindset, and business. Whether you’re starting from scratch, rebuilding, or scaling something that already exists, these 40 days are designed to help you break old patterns, renew your mind, strengthen your identity, and take small, consistent steps toward the business God has placed inside you.

Every day becomes a seed.

Every day becomes a step.

Every day becomes an act of agreement with heaven.

For the next 40 days, commit to showing up with intention. Begin each day with prayer, asking God to reveal who you are, what He’s placed within you, and what step He wants you to take. Spend time renewing your mind because identity is the foundation of everything you build. When you know who you are, you stop building from fear and start building from authority. Use these 40 days to clarify your niche, your message, your gifts, and the people you’re called to serve. Let God highlight what’s already inside you. Let Him show you the ideas, the creativity, the solutions, and the strategies that have been waiting for your yes. And then take one small step every single day - write the post, brainstorm the offer, outline the program, record the podcast, build the funnel, pray over your clients, or simply sit with God and listen. Small steps compound. Small steps create momentum. Small steps build mountains.

This 40‑day journey is not about perfection; it’s about partnership. It’s about aligning your identity with heaven, aligning your mindset with truth, and aligning your business with purpose. By the end of these 40 days, you won’t just have clarity, you’ll have confidence. You won’t just have ideas, you’ll have direction. You won’t just have dreams, you’ll have a plan. This is your ascension season. This is your activation. This is your moment to rise into the identity, authority, and purpose God has already placed within you. Commit to the next 40 days, and watch what God builds through you.
